WIP Limits

Only Administrators can perform this action.

Setting up WIP Limits

By default, WIP limits are not pre-set.

  1. Click the ‘Options‘ icon
  2. Click the ‘Board Editor‘option
  3. Add the WIP limit for each card container as needed
  4. Once limits are set, click ‘Done Editing‘ button in the top right

Enforcing WIP Limits

  1. Click the ‘Options‘ icon
  2. Click the ‘Board Settings‘ option
  3. Click the ‘WIP Limits‘ settings

  • If the WIP Limits setting is ON and the WIP limit is reached, users can no longer move new cards in that column and the alert message below will appear.

    Kanban Work in Progress Limit - On

  • If the WIP Limits setting is ALERT and the WIP limit is reached, users can move new cards that column. The alert message below will appear to give users the option to proceed or not.Kanban Zone Work in Progress Limit - Alert
  • If the WIP Limits setting is OFF and the WIP limit is reached, users can move cards into that column without any alert message. Because the WIP limit has been reached the limit is highlighted in red.Kanban Zone WIP Limit - Violation
