listening to podcast and writing notes

Podcasts are everywhere right now, and they have never been more popular. As a project manager or someone interested in project management processes, you’ll be happy to know that there are endless podcasts out there that will help you improve your knowledge and understanding of the role. Many of these podcasts can help you overcome obstacles, make progress, and keep you up to date with the latest trends in project management. Having the right project management resources will surely make things a lot easier for you.

Great Podcasts to Add to Your Project Management Resources

If you are someone who likes listening to podcasts that provide tips on how to be better as a project manager, then you should have these podcasts added to your project management resources.

1. The 5 PM Podcast

By far my favorite podcast on this list, The 5 PM Podcast is a short but sweet podcast that condenses all the latest project management trends, news, and opinions down into bitesize chunks that you can enjoy any time of day, no matter what you’re doing or where you are.

Hosted by Ricardo Vargas, there are over 500 episodes to jump into that cover literally every topic you could ever imagine. In short, this is an invaluable project management podcast you’re not going to want to miss.

2. The Project Management Podcast

Well, the title of this podcast probably gives it away. This show is hosted by Cornelius Fitcher and focuses mainly on the problems that commonly come up in project management and explores ways to solve them.

This podcast excels at getting on the experts from the most essential areas of project management from around the world, so you know the information you’re listening to is coming from the best of the best.

3. PM for Masses

As the title suggests, this is a project management podcast show that aims to bring education and inspiration to everyone in the PM world, regardless of whether you’re starting out at the foundations of your career or you’re quite experienced but looking for a little something extra.

The show consists of discussions and interviews with some of the most experienced project managers in the world, and every topic you can imagine is covered.

4. PM Point of View

With over 80 episodes under their belt, the PM Point of View is a fairly popular podcast among viewers, but I consider it underrated across the board. This show is all about highlighting certain project management resources, tools, techniques, and technologies and how to use them to make your future efforts more successful.

Mark Horstman and Mike Auzenne host the podcast, and what I love is how much actionable advice these two share with their fans.

5. People and Projects

Hosted by Andy Kaufman, but not the American comedian, this podcast is one of my other favorites because it looks at project management in a way that exceptionally few other podcasts do.

To give you an idea of what I mean, some of the most recent episodes I listened to covered topics like emotional intelligence when working on a project and how to develop your people skills to create a worthwhile team and motive morale—very interesting stuff and essential for a successful project management team to learn.

6. The Last Project Manager

Yes, the title of this podcast series is deceiving. This show is not about everything but being lazy and dropping as much responsibility as you can. Rather, it is about working smarter with your efforts to get more done and dramatically boost your productivity levels while stuck into a project.

There’s a lot of productivity-related topics here, including how to manage your time more effectively, how to maintain a healthy work-life balance, and how to keep yourself business but living without stress.

7. The Sensible Project Manager

Last but certainly not least, we have the SensiblePM podcast, hosted by Mark Phillipy, who’s been in project management for nearly two decades. Throughout the episodes, Mark shares his experiences on project management and the lessons he’s learned along the way and breaks everything down into simple yet manageable chunks.

You’ll have dedicated lessons and structures for topics like:

  • The basics of project management
  • Preparing for the CAPM exam
  • Prepping for the PMP exam
  • Prepping for the PMI-ACP

Basically, if you’re a student heading into project management, this is the podcast show for you.
